Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) is a real-time automated weather station used for airport or heliport operations. The AWOS provides current weather information to pilots via GTA/VHF radio and landline modem. These systems meet Transport Canada, ICAO, and FAA requirements for public use.
Approach Navigation Systems Inc. has installed and supported Automatic Weather Observation Systems (AWOS) at private, industrial, and public aerodromes in Canada and overseas for over twenty years. An AWOS station provides continuous real-time weather reports without human involvement for users of aviation facilities. The AWOS systems supplied by ANS Inc are of the highest quality available and are deployed worldwide. It is approved by ICAO, FAA and TC for public use. The attached brochures (PDF) describe the operating features and sensor specifications of the AWOS.
Provides current altimeter setting, temperature, dew point, wind speed and direction.
Provides all AWOS I features plus visibility.
Provides all AWOS II features plus cloudheight and sky condition.
AWOS III P
Provides all AWOS III features plus present weather (reports drizzle, rain, snow, precipitation intensity, fog and haze).
AWOS III P/T

Altimeter Display System
Altimeter display system is simple and easy to use for manned observations consisting of a display and pressure sensor. The pressure sensor sends its data to a display which calculates an altimeter setting compliant to Transport Canada, ICAO, and FAA requirements.
Wind Display System
Wind display system is simple and easy to use for manned observations consisting of a display and wind sensor. The wind sensor sends its data to a display which calculates wind values compliant to Transport Canada, ICAO, and FAA requirements.
Thunderstorm system detects lightning activity within a given radius and can be used as an early warning system for ground crews.
